A photo from the hill that sees in every direction.
MomentoSnap is installed on the viewpoint terrace of Mađerkin breg - the hilltop above Štrigova that Međimurje locals describe with the motto "'z njega vidiš na se strane", which roughly means from it you can see in every direction. Step in front of the booth and the entire Mura river plain, the rolling vineyard hills of Međimurje, and on a clear day the Slovenian peaks, stretch out behind you. Touch the screen, pose, pay, and walk away with a printed keepsake plus a free high-resolution digital copy on your phone - all in about fifteen seconds, no operator, no queue, no app to install. This was MomentoSnap's very first location, and it's still the one people talk about most.
- Address
- Mađerkin breg viewpoint terrace, above the vineyards near Štrigova, 40232 Štrigova, Međimurje, Croatia
- Open
- The viewpoint is accessible at any time of day - there are no gates or closing hours. The MomentoSnap booth runs 24/7, so you can stop by at golden hour, at sunrise, or whenever the Mura plain looks its best to you.
How to find it
From Čakovec, take the road north toward Štrigova - about 25 kilometres through the Međimurje hills, passing vineyards and klijeti (the traditional vineyard cottages you'll see on both sides of the road). The drive itself is part of the experience.
Follow signs for Štrigova and then for Mađerkin breg. A short unpaved track leads up from the road to the terrace at the top - it's passable by any car in dry conditions. In wet weather a higher-clearance vehicle is more comfortable.
There's no bus service directly to the hilltop. The nearest public transport stop is in Štrigova village, from where it's about a 30-minute walk uphill through the vineyards - a pleasant route in any season.
Best time to come
Late afternoon in any season. In spring the Mura plain below is bright green and the air is clear enough to make out the Slovenian hills; in summer the vineyards glow and the klijeti are open for wine; in autumn the leaves turn copper and amber, and the light on the plain is extraordinary; in winter, with snow on the distant peaks across the border, the view is spare and serious. The booth handles all of it - outdoor weather from frost to full summer heat.

About Mađerkin breg
Međimurje is Croatia's smallest county and its northernmost - a narrow wedge of land between the Drava and Mura rivers, bordered by Slovenia to the west and Hungary to the east. The county was part of Hungary for centuries and only joined Croatia in 1919, which is why the local dialect, the food, and the architecture feel distinct from the rest of Croatia. Mađerkin breg is the county's most-loved viewpoint: the hilltop has been a place people walk to for the panorama as long as anyone can remember, the motto "'z njega vidiš na se strane" dating back generations. The vineyards on the slopes around it are among the oldest in Croatia, with a winemaking tradition that goes back to at least the 16th century under the Zrinski family. Today the hill sits at the heart of the Međimurje wine-tourism route and is the view most associated with the region in any photograph.
Frequently asked
Where exactly is the MomentoSnap booth at Mađerkin breg?
On the viewpoint terrace at the top of Mađerkin breg, above the vineyards near Štrigova in Međimurje. Once you're on the terrace, the booth is directly in front of the panoramic view over the Mura plain - you can't miss it.
Is Mađerkin breg hard to reach without a car?
It's easiest by car. The hilltop is about 25 kilometres north of Čakovec on roads that pass through the vineyard hills. From Štrigova village there's a walkable uphill path through the vines - about 30 minutes on foot. There's no direct bus to the summit.
Can I take a group photo with the Mura plain in the background?
Absolutely. The booth is positioned so that a group of up to about six people fits comfortably in the frame, with the Mura river plain and the vineyard hills stretching out behind them. In good light the view behind you is as much of the photo as the people in front.
Is the print included, or just the digital copy?
Both are included in the single price. Every photo gives you a printed 4×6 on glossy water-resistant paper, plus a free high-resolution digital copy via a unique QR code printed on the back.
What's the best time of year to visit Mađerkin breg?
Honestly, all of them have something to offer. Late September and October are particularly good - the vineyard leaves turn copper, the harvest is in full swing in the klijeti below, and the light on the plain in the afternoon is warm and long. Spring is excellent for the green clarity of the view. Summer is busy but the vineyards are in full leaf.
Can I combine the viewpoint with a winery visit?
That's the recommended approach. The Međimurje Wine Road runs through the hills directly below Mađerkin breg - start with a tasting at one of the family wineries in Štrigova, drive up to the top for the view and the photo, then continue to Toplice Sveti Martin for the thermal pools if you want to make it a full day.
