How to find it

Međugorje is about 25 km south-west of Mostar, off the main Mostar - Ljubuški road. If you're arriving by bus from Mostar, the journey takes around 30-40 minutes; the village is well-signed from the main junction at Čitluk. Buses from Split (Croatia) run the route in roughly two hours.

By car from Dubrovnik, count on about 90 minutes via the E73 and the Neum coastal corridor - remember to have your documents ready for the brief Bosnia & Herzegovina border crossing. From Mostar, the drive is straightforward on the M6.1 road, roughly 25-30 minutes.

The booth is in the pilgrimage centre plaza directly beside St. James Church - the main landmark of the village. If you can see the two white church towers, the booth is within a minute's walk.

Best time to come

The village has a rhythm: mornings are quiet and contemplative; evenings build to the international Mass at around 6pm and the open-air prayers that follow. The booth is great either way - morning light from the east catches the church towers beautifully, and the golden evening light just before Mass creates a warm, striking photo. If you want an uncrowded moment at the booth, midday between 1pm and 3pm is when most pilgrimage groups are at lunch.

While you're in Međugorje

The village and its two sacred hills form a natural half-day or full-day circuit. Most pilgrims combine all three in one visit.

  • Apparition Hill (Brdo Ukazanja / Podbrdo)

15-20 min walk from St. James Church

The rocky limestone hill where six young villagers first reported seeing the Virgin Mary on 24 June 1981. Bronze relief stations mark the path; pilgrims pray the rosary stop by stop. Wear sturdy shoes - the path is rough.

  • Cross Mountain (Križevac)

45-60 min walk from the village

The higher hill above Međugorje, topped by a 14-metre concrete cross built by parishioners in 1933. The Stations of the Cross line the route. On clear days you can see as far as the Neretva valley and the distant Adriatic coast.

  • Kravice Waterfalls

About 35 km - 30 min by car

A wide, horseshoe-shaped cascade on the Trebižat river - one of Herzegovina's most beautiful natural spots and a favourite half-day trip from Međugorje.

  • Mostar - Stari Most

About 25 km - 30 min by car

The famous Ottoman bridge over the Neretva river, rebuilt after the 1993 war and now a UNESCO World Heritage site. A natural addition to any Međugorje visit.

About Međugorje

Međugorje is a village in the Brotnjo plateau of Western Herzegovina, in the municipality of Čitluk. Before 1981 it was a quiet farming community of a few hundred people, in a region already marked by the Franciscan-run parish of St. James. On 24 June 1981, six young people from the village - the so-called visionaries - reported seeing an apparition of the Virgin Mary on the rocky slope of Podbrdo hill. The reported apparitions continued over the following days and years and eventually drew international attention. By the late 1980s Međugorje had become one of the busiest Catholic pilgrimage sites in the world, receiving visitors from every continent. The parish grew accordingly: the open-air altar behind St. James Church was built to accommodate the crowds; hostels, pensions, and small hotels filled the village. In 2024, Pope Francis approved the devotional practices associated with Međugorje as spiritually fruitful - a significant step toward broader Church recognition that reflected the pastoral reality already established on the ground. Today Međugorje receives over a million pilgrims annually from more than 60 countries.

Frequently asked

Where exactly is the MomentoSnap booth in Međugorje?

In the pilgrimage centre plaza directly beside St. James Church - the main parish church with the two white towers at the heart of the village. If you can see the church, the booth is within a minute's walk.

Do I need to pay separately for the photo booth?

Yes. Entry to Međugorje and the pilgrimage sites is free; the booth itself is paid on the spot by coin or contactless card. One photo includes both a printed 4x6 copy and a free digital download via QR - no subscription, no app needed.

Can I take a group photo - for example our pilgrimage group?

Absolutely. The booth frame is set up so a group of up to about six people fits comfortably with St. James Church visible behind them. Larger groups can come up in turns - the booth prints quickly and there's no time pressure.

Is the booth open during Mass times?

Yes, the booth runs 24/7. The main international Mass in Međugorje is typically around 6pm; if you prefer not to use the booth during that time out of respect, morning and early afternoon are just as good for photos and usually quieter.

Is the print included in the price, or just the digital copy?

Both are included. Every session gives you a printed 4x6 keepsake on glossy water-resistant paper plus a free high-resolution digital copy via a unique QR code on the print itself.

What languages does the booth screen support?

English, Croatian, German, and Italian - the four most common languages among Međugorje's international pilgrims. All on-screen instructions and the receipt are in whichever language you choose.
